Installed XP over my MIE HP Linux netbook. Installed XP Drivers, but will the wireless read WEP?
I had an HP MIE netbook and I installed XP as the new OS. I installed all of the XP drivers, but it seems the broadcom wireless chip only reads WPA2 (WPA). Can it be enabled to read WEP?

I think you could probably get the best answer to your question at the HP forums: http://www.hp-forums.com. You can ask pro’s and interact with other users with the same or similar machines. I find it helps me with my most of my questions about my machine. Good luck!
just upgrade your network to WPA2 since WEP can be cracked in less then 1 minute. This would make everything more secure and your laptop would work.
